🍓 Why Fruits, Berries, and Herbs Matter

Impact of 100 Fruit Trees

  • Feeds: ~50 households annually
  • Yields: 7,000–10,000lbs of fruit annually
  • 100,000 Homes Planting 2 Trees Each: Generates 10,000,000lbs of fresh fruit per season!

Impact of 100 Berries

  • Simple to grow in patios and balconies.
  • Feeds 12–20 households per 100 bushes with low maintenance.

THE FACTS

1️⃣ Trees Per Household 🌳

  • Did you know? The average household needs 3–4 fruit trees to meet the annual fruit consumption of 116 lbs per person.
  • Add in 137 lbs of vegetables and 227 lbs of meat, and it’s clear how vital a localized, sustainable food system can be.

2️⃣ Impact of 200 Trees 🍎🍑

  • Planting 200 fruit trees can feed approximately 50 households annually, producing 7,000–10,000 lbs of fresh fruit upon maturity.
  • If 100,000 homes each planted just 2 fruit trees, they could collectively harvest a staggering 10 million lbs of fresh, locally grown fruit.
  • Imagine the local transformation if 1 million fig trees were planted—reshaping the local economy while promoting agri-culture!

3️⃣ Urban Food Forest Potential 🌱

  • Transform neighborhoods into self-sustaining food forests by integrating fruit trees, berries, and herbs into urban spaces.
  • Follow Braga Farms’ 12-Month Urban Gardening Guide to grow your own season-to-season local food system, creating thriving communities that support a sustainable future.
